Moong Dal

Moong Dal are very rich in vitamin B9, also known as folic acid. The brain requires this vitamin to synthesize serotonin and dopamine. High levels of these hormones in the brain promotes better moods in children, which can boost intellectual performance and help in brain development.

Ingredients
  

  • 250 grams Whole moongdal (soaked overnight)
  • To taste Salt
  • ½ tsp Haldi powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Green chilli paste optional
  • 1 tbsp Oil or ghee
  • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp Sugar optional
  • A pinch Asafoetodia (Hing)
  • ½ tsp Chilli powder

Instructions
 

  • Add salt and pressure cook dal in enough water till it is soft.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan, add cumin seeds, hing, haldi, coriander powder, green chilli paste, sugar (optional) and red chilli powder.
  • Pour it over dal.
  • Mix well and serve hot.

Serving Tip: Serve Moong dal with roti, paratha or rice
